Two days ago Google announced that it was in awe of how big the Internet has become with the revelation that their systems had successfully indexed OVER One Trillian links - even after removing duplicate content links out of their systems !!!!!
Now lets just grab a sense of how much information that really is …. as we don’t even consider the huge task Google manage in collating that amount of information into their page rank graph. We expect to see a list of weblinks most suited to what we are searching for and we want it fast !
One Trillion is 1,000,000,000,000 links ! What is even more staggering, is the Internet is growing exponentially with a few Billion new links being added every single day. It has taken Google eight years to go from a Billion links to 1 Trillion links - but at current growth rates Google will see 2 Trillion within two more years.

I was helping out with a bit of advice today on an SEO network for Hoteliers where the sales manager responsible for their own SEM and SEO acvtivities was looking for a few pointers….. describing himself as an SEO Virgin.
Many SEO “virgin’s” don’t know some of the first steps to having the search engines take you seriously.
So Class101 for aspiring SEO practitioners is …. make sure the site is listed in the DMOZ.org index - Google and all the main search companies pull data from the DMOZ. If you are not listed, find the category which your competitors are listed in, and then click the submit site link.
The other place to ensure you are listed is the Aboutus.org which is gaining favour with lots of institutions. A simple way to add your site to these is by going to the Whois database and look for the Aboutus link - it instantly pulls info from your site once you click on it and then allows you to register and add as much data as you like:
http://whois.domaintools.com enter your domain here and then look for the Aboutus link on the left.
I do highly recommend the above book by the way! The link of the image gives more info on the book within Amazon’s website…It is not written only for those folk building new websites, it is an ideal reference to keep dipping back into and following tips to keep ontop of your site’s search position (aka SERPs).

In the current UK political / prison system I would hazard a guess that John and Anne Darwin will probably serve 3 years each of both their six year sentences. Yet I can’t help wonder if their prison sentences fit the crime ?
I am a strong believer that if you do the crime - you should do the “time” but in the exact same afternoon that the news was released about the Darwin’s, I have been watching an excellent TV program on the BBC called “Cars, Cops and Criminals” which this week was following police as they prevent thieves from breaking into cars in the upmarket streets of Chelsea and fight the rise in high-value freight crime. One of the story lines concerned the catching of a persistent car criminal via what the police term a “Rat Trap” and the courts hand out a four month suspended sentence and 100x hours of community service! Well I’m sure that will dissuade the criminal from further crime LOL … as if !
Surely the personnel and equipment cost of the policing involved in the “Rat Trap” case, along with the court system costs as well as the wider costs of the multitude of actual crimes this one criminal is responsible for is of equal grotesqueness to the lost souls of the Darwin’s who chose a chicken’s way out of dealing with their financial mismanagement ???
What message does such inequalities of sentencing teach folk ?
Hey…. steal off the general public, damage property and terrorise your neighborhood and the courts will basically smile and let you off. Dare to steal from rich corporate insurance firms and cheat on the government and your going to be punished and sent to prison !!!
Common sense is not very common any more.

I wrote this in my blog within “TheHospital”, but seeing as that is a private members blog only, I thought I’d drop it in here…….
As I see the headline in my morning summary of the Timesonline’s business news my mind jumps to the irony of it all….
Overblown Brown takes all the limelight during an easy ride of the economy specifically in his hoodwinking attempt to line himself up for the big chair, realising that his time was nigh and needed to push a better leader out of said chair quickly as he saw the economy heading for meltdown and his charming fallacy of a financial heavyweight would be uncovered for what it really was….
and now we have his predecessor asking for restraint in the ranks even though they ramp up tax and look for every way possible to con the public out of their hard earnt cash whilst trying to keep onside the public “do-gooders” who are systematically ruining the very fabric of society without even realising it themselves !
Ha ha ha… bring it on !! Greed is a vicious circle…. everybody was loving it with crazy house price increases; cheap loans; new cars; and cheap foreign imports ! We let Tesco drive down supplier prices whilst making a Billion per year. The tax burden goes up supplying everything for those with less instead of getting them off their butts and being productive, and to add fuel to the inferno the government invent taxes in the name of the environment yet do nothing to truly help it !! What a laugh.. .LOL the UK is Soooo overdue a meltdown. Get away from it all and book a holiday through my lovely Private Villas | Apartments Nerja website
